42

Today I went to the movies and acutely saw a good movie that I wouldn’t mind paying more money to go see again. Normally when a movie is based off a real life event you can just assume that it is going to be only loosely based off the real event. So when I went to go see the movie 42 today I did have high hopes because of what the story was about. A story and a person that made such a huge impact on the world, you would hope that they would do the person and event justice. The movie 42 was so good, and the actors that portrayed the people did such an amazing job, that I wouldn’t be surprised if they were nominated for an Oscar. The actors acutely made you feel the emotions that they were acting out. You could feel the hurt and angry and fear that the Robinson family had felt having to be thrust into something that they weren’t used to. For them to be living in California and not being around all the racism going on in the outside world. They were like in a bubble and then they were thrust into something that they weren’t used to having to deal with. For them to have dealt with it with the grace that they did, I don’t think anyone could say that they could do that ever. To be willing to back down from a fight when something is hurling insults at you, takes a lot of guts. I am probably going to go see this movie more than once.

This Weekend’s Hashtag Project: #WHPdearphotograph

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes & hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a photo announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

This week we’ve been inspired by Dear Photograph (@dearphotograph) and, as a result, we’re asking you to take an old film photograph or vintage postcard, hold it up against the original setting and then take a picture of it for #WHPdearphotograph. Some tips to get you started: tap to focus on the photograph in the foreground before taking the picture, share a story or memory about the old film photograph or antique postcard in your caption and, most importantly, be patient! It may take some time to line up the photo—try moving your hand closer or further away from the object you’re shooting.

PROJECT RULES: Please only add the hashtag #WHPdearphotograph to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any image taken then tagged over the weekend is eligible to be featured right here Monday morning!
